About Nagma Live
NagmaLive was born out of a simple but powerful need: to practice and perform tabla and kathak with the energy and nuance of live musicians. Back in the early days of mobile apps, the available tools were dominated by synthesized sounds—functional but uninspiring. As a student and lover of Indian classical music, I knew there had to be something more organic, something that felt alive.
In 2015, I traveled to Kolkata, India, to bring that vision to life. With the generous help of sitarist and harmonium player Jayanta Banerjee, I began recording live lehras specifically for practice and performance use. One of the great honors of that trip was capturing recordings with Pandit Roshan Ali Khan, whose sarangi brought a depth and soul to the music that can’t be replicated. These sessions formed the heart of what would become NagmaLive.
Today, NagmaLive aims to be the premier practice and performance app for tabla players and kathak dancers. Whether you’re just starting your journey or are an experienced performer, our goal is to provide the kind of live-recorded accompaniment that inspires, challenges, and elevates your art.
